Thaipusam: A Ritual Human Art

According to Wikipedia, the festival commemorates both the birthday of Murugan (alsoSubramaniam), the youngest son of god Shiva and his wifeParvati, and the occasion when Parvati gave Murugan a vel(spear) so he could vanquish the evil demon Soorapadman. To me, it is a form of ritual art which is to test the human spirit to carry kavadi (such as below) to re-pay the idol god for averting great calamity in their lives.

Nyonya Lady

This was taken in Penang, outside a clan association temple. The lady wore her best Kebaya top to meet us for a photography session. She obliged and the setting was ideal. The whole setup and venue was arrange beforehand, knowing the natural light would be soft and flattering for portraits.

Working With Allyson

This is one my favourite works on indoor studio photography. The whole studio setup belong to a friend on mine and was shot at his self-made indoor studio. Allyson is pretty and friendly to work with and she almost poses with every shots that I could have imagined. Look forward to work with her again.

A new baby (May San & Chin Guan's beloved baby daughter) is a miracle and deserves our admiration and even the slightest gurgles and sighs. Every newborn will always be our centre of devotion and attention, and that comes along parenthood.
